Now, I would like to talk about EXPO 2005, to take place in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
The first international exposition in twenty-first century, EXPO2005 Aichi, Japan, in which state-of-the-art technologies and next-generation technologies will be introduced, will be held in Aichi prefecture from March 25 through September 25, 2005.
The theme of this EXPO is “NATURE’S WISDOM”, which means that we should humbly learn from nature’s wisdom at the start of new century, making progress in the right direction and solving challenges which mankind must address in keeping with the coexistence of nature and human kind.
The exhibition site is also environmentally friendly and great efforts were made to remove as few trees and plants from the area as possible. As an example of this, parks were utilized for certain exhibition sites and some of the pavilions are being constructed using existing baseball fields and tennis courts.
EXPO 2005 is a place for citizens to participate. NGOs, NPOs and citizens will participate in the exhibits at various pavilions. I very much hope that delegates can take part in the exhibition.
