Abstract
In order to achieve the 1.5 degree C target set in the Paris Agreement, it is essential for cities to transition toward decarbonization, because they account for some 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption. International efforts to support cities' such initiatives are being strengthened.
In February 2023, MOEJ together with JICA, launched the Clean Citiy Partnership Program (C2P2) to address today's challenges faced by cities around the world from multiple perspectives. With participation of Japanese local governments, private companies, financial institutions and others, and in collaboration with MDBs, this program will provide comprehensive and synergistic support for urban agenda including climate change, environmental pollution, circular economy, and nature positive in partner cities.
In this seminar, MOEJ and JICA will present their initiatives and Japanese local governments, and partner cities will share good practices of C2P2.Program

After the opening remarks by Mr. MATSUZAWA of MOEJ, Mr. SHIBATA presented JICA's contribution to C2P2. Yokohama and Bangkok shared their zero-carbon initiatives and energy management collaboration. Ehime and Gorontalo highlighted their works in water treatment, industrial policies, and green hospitals. This seminar emphasized the importance of mutual learning among cities, integrated solutions to address complex urban agendas and stakeholder engagement, especially with the private sector. This seminar was sealed by Mr. SHIMIZU, Mayor of Saitama City, which collaborates with Kuala Lumpur.
