Abstract

The JCM has been promoting diffusion of decarbonizing technologies since its start in 2013. Currently, the number of JCM partner countries has reached 29 and the number of selected JCM Model Projects has reached over 250.
This side event will introduce the status of legal arrangement in Japan related to Article 6 of the Paris Agreement as well as the recent progrss of the JCM, and it will also provide updates from JCM partner countries on their efforts to implement Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and the status of implementation of the JCM. Furthermore, this event will discuss how the partner countries and Asian Development Bank promote JCM considering global trends surrounding the Article 6 implementation.

Session Summary
The event was initiated by opening remarks by Mr. MATSUZAWA, Vice-Minister of MOEJ and presentations by Mr. KINAME from MOEJ and Mr. Duggal from ADB. In the discussion, speakers from JCM partner countries, Thailand, Mongolia, and Indonesia, shared the latest information on arrangement of the legal framework in line with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, and the outlook for project development in each country. Finally, Mr. Duggal emphasized JCM contributes improving the reliability of the carbon markets, and Mr. KINAME emphasized JCM's progress in line with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
