It is the oldest hot spring at the Nyuto-Onsen Village, and the hot spring resort of the Akita clan, which has continued since the Edo period.

Tsurunoyu Onsen is the oldest inn in the Nyuto-Onsen Village, which is said to be opened the hot spring in 1701. It is also famous as a hot spring therapy resort of Akita domain. A tenement house with thatched roof is believed to be the hot spring Akita lord used to take a bath and called “Honjin”. The house is a symbol of Tsuru no Yu.

It is also a rare hot-spring resort where has different four hot spring resources with different efficacies and hot spring properties in the same premises. Especially the mixed bath in open-air where hot water gushes from feet the bottom of the bath is one of the hot springs representing the Nyuto-Onsen Village.
