History of the Asian Network

"Asian Network for prevention of illegal transboundary movement of hazardous wastes" (Asian Network) is a network among 11 Asian countries, including Brunei, Cambodia, China (including Hong Kong SAR), Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan, and 2 Basel Convention Coordinating/Regional Centres located in China (BCRC China) and in Indonesia (BCRC-SEA).
This network was proposed by Japan in 2004 and aims at developing information exchange systems among the parties to the Basel Convention in the Asia in order to prevent illegal transboudary movement of hazardous wastes.
