Announcement on the 5th session of the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM5)

1. The 5th session of the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM5) will be held in Bonn, Germany, from 25 to 29 September 2023.
2. The conference will adopt the new framework beyond 2020 that will replace the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM), which aimed to ensure that chemicals are produced and used in a way that minimizes significant adverse effects on human health and the environment by 2020. 
3. Japan has been actively participating in the negotiations, including by proposing the establishment of an online tool for easy-to-understand reporting, presentation of results, and third-party evaluation as a mechanism for monitoring progress toward the goals, which was included in the draft framework. Japan will also continue to contribute toward the adoption of the new framework at the conference.
