These are the waters off Southern Iwo Jima Island to the south-southeast, including numerous chemotrophic ecosystems around hydrothermal vents and seamounts. Nikko Seamount located in these waters has been confirmed to be home to a dense population of Lamellibrachia satsuma (Fujikura et al., 2008).
