Decision on the logo mark of the 'Monitoring Sites 1000' project made

The Biodiversity Center of Japan has been promoting the Monitoring Sites 1000 project since 2003. The project aims to detect sings of ecosystem degradation by long-term monitoring surveys and accumulate and analyze quantitative data on various types of ecosystems throughout Japan.

The project plans to locate about 1000 monitoring sites throughout Japan; last year over 1000 sites were established. In memory of having accomplished setting up 1000 sites, the Biodiversity Center of Japan invited public participation in the logo design for the project. The best award and two excellent awards were decided from amongst 202 applications, and the best design will be used as the project logo mark.
