"Interim Assessment of the Japan HPV Challenge Program" Released

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE), the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) have produced an "Interim Assessment of the Japan HPV (High Production Volume) Challenge Program". The Japan HPV Challenge Program is a joint program between the private and the public sectors for the collection and release of information on the safety of existing chemical substances which are manufactured in or imported into Japan at a rate of more than 1,000 tons per year.
On July 8th, 2008, the three ministries published a draft and invited public comments on it. Taking such comments into consideration, they finalized the "Interim Assessment of the Japan HPV Challenge Program" on August 25th, 2008, summarizing the progress of the program and proposing policy for the program's future actions.
