"5th Workshop on Environmental Monitoring of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in East Asian Countries", 20-22 November, Kyoto

The Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOE) will hold the above-mentioned Workshop from 20 to 22 November 2007, in Kyoto (venue: Kyoto International Conference Center, Takaragaike, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto). It is anticipated that approximately 30 government officials and/or experts from 11 countries in the East Asia sub-region will participate in the Workshop. The discussions at the Workshop will cover, but not be limited to: (1) review of the results from the POPs Monitoring Project in East Asian Countries; (2) plan for the POPs Monitoring Project in East Asian Countries in FY2007 and beyond; and (3) sub-regional input to the Global Monitoring Plan (GMP) for the 1st effectiveness evaluation of the Stockholm Convention.
