The UN High-Level Event on Climate Change

Mr. Yoshiro Mori, former Prime Minister of Japan, visited New York from September 24 (Mon.) to September 25 (Tue.) (local time) as Special Envoy of the Prime Minister, to attend the UN High-Level Event on Climate Change. In his address, he explained Japan's proposal to the world. The "Cool Earth 50," which calls for a global GHG emissions reduction of 50% from current levels by 2050, is accompanied by 3 basic principles that the post-2012 framework should have. He also noted the importance of the Co-benefit Approach. <Note: The report is in Japanese>
