Ms. Tokiko Kato, UNEP Special Envoy, to Visit Vietnam

Ms. Tokiko Kato, a Japanese chanson musician, will visit Vietnam as a UNEP Special Envoy from August 13 to 23, 2007. Ms. Tokiko Kato has been UNEP Special Envoy since October, 2000. She has visited Indonesia, Thailand, China, Uzbekistan, India and other countries previously. This is an annual mission for her to observe environmental activities such as wildlife conservation, forest conservation, waste management, etc. The purpose of this mission is to raise public awareness of environmental conservation activities in the Asia Pacific region, and to promote the local environmental activities. This year she will visit Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam and will hold a concert in Hanoi in order to assert the importance of environmental conservation.
