Announcement of the Results of Testing of Small Mammals for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) Virus. Surveillance of Sick Raptors for HPAI Virus (H5N1 Subtype Virus Detected from Mountain Hawk Eagle) to be Conducted

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) has announced that no HPAI virus was detected from samples of small mammals captured around the area where a wild mountain hawk eagle was found dead from wasting caused by infection with the H5N1 HPAI virus.
The MOE will conduct surveillance of sick raptors for HPAI virus in 22 prefectures located west of the Kinki area.
