International Seminar: The Latest Trends in Green Public Procurement and Environmental Labels of the World

It is important for us to know in such world-wide vigorous moves toward green procurement as "the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production organized by UN Environment , which is a global framework of action to enhance international cooperation to accelerate the shift towards sustainable consumption and production (SCP) in both developed and developing countries", the latest trends in global harmonization of green public procurement and environmental labels together with environmental policies in those developing countries as ASEAN member countries that continue to achieve high level of growth in order to develop business overseas of eco-friendly products and services.

Accordingly, we are pleased to announce that "International Seminar on the Latest Trends in Green Public Procurement and Environmental Labels of the World" will be held in Tokyo, Japan on Thursday, December 7, 2017 13:00 - 16:00 (JST) .

The speakers to be invited to the seminar from Europe, North America and ASEAN member country will make speeches regarding the main theme of the seminar.

This seminar will be co-organized by the Ministry of Environment, Japan and the Eco-Mark Office of Japan Environment Association (JEA). It would be very much appreciated if you participate in this seminar. You are kindly requested to apply in advance for participation in the seminar by using online system or by facsimile.

1. OUTLINE

Green Public Procurement (GPP) and Environmental Labels (the Type-1 based on ISO 14024) are developed by their own policies and the procedures in many countries. In order to actively expand business of those products and services using Japanese environmental technologies in international markets, it would be considerably important for us to know the last updated information regarding the environmental labelling and the public procurement mechanism in every country in the world. Accordingly, the international seminar will be held to aim at providing necessary information for companies and stakeholders that are interested in business overseas of their products and services.

We would invite those speakers for this seminar; from UN Environment that develop the programs in order to promote Green Public Procurement (GPP) and Environmental Labelling in every country in the world under "the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production", Germany that initiates the Blue Angel, the eco-label system, which has been widely utilized in green public procurements in Europe, the United States of America that are making a big shift in environmental policy under the new government and an ASEAN member, Viet Nam. They will make detailed presentations of the emerging trends in Green Public Procurement and Environmental Labels of their own and in the world.

Please be noted that we are to close the list when the number of applicants reaches the quota.
