Revision to Basic Policy on Promoting Green Purchasing

Under the Law concerning the Promotion of Procurement of Eco-Friendly Goods and Services by the State and Other Entities (Law on Promoting Green Purchasing), the MOE of Japan has announced that the revision of the Basic Policy on Promoting Green Purchasing was approved at the Cabinet Meeting.
In this revision, 5 new items (Portable generators, Non-perishable bread for an emergency, Health food/Nutrition food (bar and drink, etc.), Freeze-dried foods, and Moving transportation) were added to the list of designated procurement items. Also, "evaluation criteria" and "factors for consideration" of 57 items were partly revised. As a result, the total number of designated procurement items is now 266 in 19 different fields.
