Hot Spring Power Generation System Starts Test Operation at Matsunoyama Onsen, Tokamachi, Niigata
The MOE implements a demonstration project of the hot spring power generation system, a geothermal binary power generation system utilising heat energy from existing hot springs (<i>onsen</i> in Japanese), at Matsunoyama Onsen, Tokamachi, Niigata. On December 16, 2011, an opening ceremony for the test operation will take place in the presence of Senior Vice Minister of the Environment Katsuhiko Yokomitsu. It is the first test operation of the binary system utilising Onsen heat energy lower than 100 degree C at practical level in Japan.
