Workshop 2011 of the Asian Network for Prevention of Illegal Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Wastes

Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ) and the Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for Asia and the Pacific (BCRC China), supported by Ministry of Environmental Protection of China (MEP), coorganised the Workshop 2011 of the Asian Network for Prevention of Illegal Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Wastes on 29 November - 1 December 2011 in Shenzhen, China. The workshop aimed at enhancing enforcement capacity of the participating countries for the implementation of the Basel Convention and facilitating the exchange and dissemination of information for the prevention of illegal transboundary movement of hazardous wastes.

The workshop focused on updating the latest information on related rules and regulations on control of transboundary movement of hazardous wastes and shared the outcomes of the Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention at its 10th session (COP10). The participants discussed the following topics:
- Update on National Regulations and Good Practices for Implementation of the Basel Convention;
- Main Outcome of COP 10;
- Current Practices of Recycling and Treatment of Hazardous Wastes and Mapping of ESM Facilities in Asia; and
- Collaboration between Asian Network and Other Regional Networks.

For Japanese
