Workshop 2011 of the Asian Network for Prevention of Illegal Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Wastes

The MOE of Japan and the Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for Asia and the Pacific (BCRC China), supported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China (MEP), will co-organise the Workshop 2011 of the Asian Network for Prevention of Illegal Transboundary Movement of Hazardous Wastes on November 29 November - 1 December 2011 in in Shenzhen, China. The workshop aims at enhancing enforcement capacity of the participating countries for the implementation of the Basel Convention and facilitating the exchange and dissemination of information for the prevention of illegal transboundary movement of hazardous wastes.

The workshop will focus on updating the latest information on related rules and regulations on control of transboundary movement of hazardous wastes and share the outcomes of the Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention at its 10th session (COP10). The agenda to be discussed at the workshop is as follows:
- Update on National Regulations and Good Practices for Implementation of the Basel Convention;
- Main Outcome of COP 10;
- Current Practices of Recycling and Treatment of Hazardous Wastes and Mapping of ESM Facilities in Asia; and
- Collaboration between Asian Network and Other Regional Networks.
