Result of the FY 2008 Survey of the Implementation of the Agricultural Land Soil Pollution Prevention Act

The MOE compiled the result of the FY 2008 Survey of the Implementation of the Agricultural Land Soil Pollution Prevention Act. The survey result consists of the continuous monitoring reports submitted by the prefectural governors. Under the Act, each governor shall continuously monitor the condition of agricultural land soil pollution caused by designated hazardous substances (cadmium, copper and arsenic).

Summary of the survey result:
(1) As a result of the continuous monitoring, 1 area exceeded the regulatory standard of arsenic that is prescribed in the Enforcement Ordinance of the Act.
(2) There was no newly designated Countermeasure Area.
(3) There was no Countermeasure Area where the designation was canceled.
(4) There were 2 Countermeasure Areas where the Countermeasure Plans were newly formulated and 1 Countermeasure Area where the additional Countermeasure Plan was formulated.
(5) At the end of FY 2008, 6,597 ha out of 7487 ha including Countermeasure Area have completed measures.
