Cabinet Decision on the Cabinet Order Partially Amending the Enforcement Ordinance for the Agricultural Land Soil Pollution Prevention Act (Cabinet Order No. 148 of 2010)

On June 11, 2010, the Cabinet approved the amendments to the Enforcement Ordinance that prescribes the requirements for designating a Countermeasure Area provided for in the Agricultural Land Soil Pollution Prevention Act. In these amendments, the regulatory level of cadmium is now set to be less than 0.4 mg/kg in rice.
The objective of the Act is to provide necessary measures to prevent and remedy soil contamination in agricultural land, to control the use of the contaminated agricultural land, and to prevent the production of agricultural products that are likely to be harmful to human health or agricultural products.
