"International Day for Biological Diversity" and "Green Wave" in 2010

May 22 each year is the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) proclaimed by the United Nations to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. The specific theme for the year 2010 is "Biodiversity, Development and Poverty Alleviation". People are encouraged to carry out suitable celebrations to mark IDB on the day or around the day.
The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD) calls for the public to participate in the "Green Wave", a treeplanting campaign for children and youth around the world, at 10:00 AM local time on IDB.
The MOE will hold an information session on the "Green Wave 2010" on February 12, to call for the public to join the activities.
