Kobe Biodiversity Dialogue in 2009

The Ministry of the Environment of Japan will hold the "Kobe Biodiversity Dialogue in 2009" on 15-16 October. It is a global forum to be undertaken one year before the tenth conference of the parties to the convention on biodiversity (CBD COP10) to be held in Nagoya City in Aichi prefecture in 2010, to promote the exchange of information, dialogue, discussion, and collaboration amongst various stakeholders including business sector, NGOs, researchers, governments, and international organizations. Based upon "Japan's efforts to implement the 'Kobe Call for Action for Biodiversity'" agreed upon at the G8 Environment Ministers Meeting 2008, this global forum will be held to promote dialogue among diverse national and international stakeholders relevant to biodiversity. At the forum, discussions on the promotion of public engagement concerning the conservation of biodiversity and its sustainable use will be held, as well as the on post-2010 Biodiversity Targets.
