"Conference of Asian Youth on Biodiversity in Aichi 2009"

The Ministry of the Environment will hold the "Conference of Asian Youth on Biodiversity in Aichi 2009" in order to promote communication among Asian youths and raise awareness of biodiversity towards the 10th Conference of the Parties (COP10) to the Convention on Biological Diversity to be held in Aichi-Nagoya in 2010.
80 youths, from high school to graduate school students, coming from 13 countries in Asia including Japan, are expected to attend the meeting. They will be given the opportunities to recognize the differences in cultures and ways of thinking amongst people of the same age in Asia through presentations, discussions, workshops, excursions, and so forth, as well as a chance to enhance their knowledge on biodiversity.
On the last day of the conference, the "Asian Youth Biodiversity Forum," in which Asian youths will make proposals for COP10, is scheduled to be held.
This forum will be open to the public and everyone's participation is looked forward to.
