Public Comments Invited regarding the "Guidelines for Private Sector Engagement in Biodiversity Issues"

The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) has promoted formulation of the "Guidelines for Private Sector Engagement in Biodiversity Issues" as one of the measures to "highlight biodiversity in our daily life" as part of the four basic strategies of the Third National Biodiversity Strategy of Japan.

The MOE invites comments from a broad spectrum of the public regarding the proposed amendments and changes to the above Guidelines. Comments will be accepted from May 13, 2009 to June 12, 2009. All correspondence will be conducted in Japanese; comments must also be submitted in writing in Japanese by mail, facsimile, or e-mail.

A meeting to explain the guidelines will be held at 14:00 on June 3, in Conference Room 1 of the MOE.
