International Day for Biological Diversity 2009
Each year May 22 is the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) proclaimed by the United Nations, and organized events celebrating it take place throughout the world.
The theme for IDB 2009 is "Biodiversity and Invasive Alien Species (IAS)".
This year, the CBD secretariat encourages children and youth around the world to plant native tree species at 10:00 am local time, to create "a Green Wave".
The Ministry of the Environment is considering the implementation of the above project, and looking forward to the active participation of local public authorities, NGO/NPOs, business and academic groups, and schools.
