Matsuo Hachimantai Visitor Center
The information dissemination base of Hachimantai and Mt. Iwate
The Matsuo Hachimantai Visitor Center conducts information including dissemination and guidance around the Hachimantai region as the base of use at the Iwate side of Towada-Hachimantai National Park.
The facility is divided into three sections: exhibition hall, video hall and lecture room, and at the exhibition hall, we are explaining and introducing animals and plants, beautiful landscapes and volcanoes around the Hachimantai region. In the video hall, you can experience the seasonal beauty around the Hachimantai region with 150-inch high definition images.
The information corner is operated by the Hachimantai City Tourist Association, it is provided tourists the useful information including traffic and mountain climbing.

Matsuo Hachimantai Bussan-kan Aspite
In the "Bussan-kan Aspite" right next to the visitor center, we sell fresh vegetables and wild plants of Hachimantai, handmade miso, tofu and handicrafts. We recommend Maitake (mushroom) soba at the dining corner.
Entrance of Aspite Line
The Matsuo Hachimantai Visitor Center is at the entrance of Iwate side of Hachimantai Aspite Line. It's a good idea to take a break and collect the information, before driving on the Aspite Line.
- By car : Approx. 10 min. from the Tohoku Expressway’s Matsuo-Hachimantai Interchange towards Hachimantai
- By bus : 90 min. from Morioka Station by bus. Get off at Sakura Koen-mae Bus Stop.
