Nature of Mt. Iwate and famous hot springs above the clouds with a history of 1,300 years.

The Kyukamura Iwate-Amihari Onsen stands on a plateau (elevation: 760 m) on the south-western foot of Mt. Iwate.

Spreading below are the views of outskirts of the foot of Mt. Iwate, the pastoral sceneries of Shizukuishi and Koiwai Farm, and, far away the City of Morioka can be seen. You can have a panoramic view of mountains including those peaks of Kitakami Mountains with Mt. Hayachine at the highest, in addition to the range of Ou Mountains including Mt. Nyuto.

The outdoor facilities are also well-equipped. They include the promenade course for “Visiting five hot springs of Amihari” by walking along the promenade within the hotel compound, “Observation lift” to see the views during the season from early summer to the autumnal leaves, “Amihari Onsen Camp Site”, “Amihari Onsen Ski Resort”.

Enjoy touring around the five hot spring bathtubs including “Hidden hot spring, Sennyo no Yu” (outdoor bath for mixed bathing”, “Taishaku no Yu” with outdoor bath, “Hakusen no Yu” which is a little bit hotter and with retrospective feel, Onsen House “Yakushi no Yu,” and “Shikaoi-ashiyu” for bathing while looking down upon the earth.

Fuben Observation Lift / Ski Resort

The observation lift operating from June to October is recommended to use especially during the fall foliage season. It is also convenient to access Mt. Iwate, one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains. The skiing ground is a course realizing a natural raw material as it is, and the snow quality is outstanding. In severe winter, Juhyo, snow monsters, are also can be seen, which makes you to have a feel of back country.

  • Approx. 40 minutes from Morioka IC via Koiwai Farm
  • From the bus stop No. 10 at the east exit of Morioka Station, take Iwate Prefectural Transportation Bus (Iwate-ken Kotsu) for “Amihari Onsen”. After about 60 minutes bus ride, get off at the terminal.
