Hot Spring Accommodation Sarukura Onsen

Sarukura Onsen
A Japanese secluded bath.

As of 2016, Sarukura Onsen was the only hot spring inn in Hakkoda with multiple outdoor baths. It was also the only one offering rooms with private outdoor baths. The hot water of Sarukura, the "source water" sent to nearly all of the inns in the Oirase area, is recommended for any bather. Our large rooms offer a space where you can spend time in relaxation. Although it is set back in the mountains where certain modern features may be lacking, you'll discover this is why an amazingly quiet time can be spent at this natural artesian aquifer hot spring inn.

Message from the Facility
Located in an area where some roads may be closed, Sarukura Onsen is open for business only six months of the year. Sarukura sends hot water throughout the Oirase area all year round, but the source waters are accessible only half of the year. The inn is smaller than others in the area, and is set back in the hills where there is no electricity and fewer conveniences. This makes its location extremely quiet, and provides the perfect environment to enjoy the simplicity of a sojourn in the mountains. Please visit for an exceptional experience.
