Course Outline

This course introduces you to some of the marine sports that you can enjoy on the beautiful beaches of Keramashoto National Park. At various beaches in the park, you can glide across the ocean’s surface on stand up paddle boards (SUP) and sea kayaks, or for a glimpse of the underwater world, try out snorkeling. Also, as a diving spot with multifaceted appeal, enjoy the marine world in some of the world's clearest waters by diving through the beautiful coral reefs swarming with colorful tropical fish over the pure white sands of the ocean floor. And, if luck will have it, you may be able to swim alongside a sea turtle.

Whatever activity you choose, have fun and enjoy the world of Kerama Blue to the fullest.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling is an easy way to enjoy the underwater world of the Kerama Blue seas. In various places in the park, you can see the corals sparkling in the sunlight, graceful schools of blue-green chromis (Chromis viridis), and everyone’s favorite—the charming clownfish. Depending on the beach, you may feel like you have become a sea creature yourself as you watch sea turtles leisurely swimming through the shallows.

Diving

Perhaps the true appeal of diving is that, in the boundlessly transparent world of Kerama Blue, you can have an up-close experience with the multicolored corals and schools of tropical fish. The coastlines that border the Kerama Islands are rich with differing types of marine ecosystems, including rocky stretches, caverns, sand beds, and coral reefs, which are home to a truly diverse range of sea creatures.

Sea kayaking

From a stand up paddle board (SUP) or sea kayak, you can see down to the very bottom of the white, sandy ocean floor as you make your way across waters of unrivaled clarity. Seeing the corals and the tropical fish swimming below is an astonishing experience. SUP and sea kayaking allow you to experience the charms of Kerama from yet another perspective besides snorkeling or diving.
