Tokashiki Village Folk and History Heritage Museum
See one of Japan’s only complete baby humpback whale skeletons.

Tokashiki Village History and Folk Heritage Museum exhibits traditional tools, folk handicrafts, and important historical artifacts from Tokashiki-jima Island. You can also see the full skeleton of a humpback whale calf, one of the only such specimens in Japan! The calf was found on the shores of Hanari-jima Island after getting separated from its mother and whale pod. At five meters in length, seeing this impressive whale skeleton up close is a truly powerful experience. For a good dose of history and culture, make sure you stop by the museum on your trip to Tokashiki Village.
