National Parks of Japan Protecting our natural heritage for future generations

HakoneFuji-Hakone-Izu National Park

A place of rest that has extended a warm welcome to travelers throughout its history.

Amasake-chaya has been continuously operating since the ancient Edo period. Amasake-chaya has been serving amazake and mochi to the many travelers who come walking along the old Tokaido with its many steep slopes. Please be our guest and relax under our thatched roof at the irori fireplace in an earthen-floor room which has retained its ancient flavor since our establishment. We are open all year and look forward to your visit.

Our amazake is a specialty whose manufacturing method has not changed since the founding of Amasake-chaya 400 years ago around the Edo period. Our amazake contains of course neither sugar nor alcohol and is additive-free and nutritionally highly effective. Moreover, our soft chikara-mochi baked with high-grade binchou charcoal are carefully pounded every morning using old-style mortar and pounder. Our chikara-mochi are an ideal gift for you to take home as a souvenir from your travel.
