This cycling course lets you take a pleasant and breezy ride from the halfway point of Mt. Daisen down to the Sea of Japan. Start from the Goenzan Noroshi-dai View point (elevation 750 m) from which you can see the goal: the Sea of Japan. As you head down the hill for the Kiryo Coast, stop by Kawadoko to appreciate its natural, crystal clear waters, then continue on toward the goal while gliding through the wide-open grasslands. Once you reach the Kiryo Coast, you will be greeted by white sandy beaches spotted with the delightful, pink flowers of sea bindweed (Calystegia soldanella). One of the highlights of this laid-back course is being able to go at your own pace and talk with locals along the way. Going with a guide can make the experience even more fun!
* When traveling by bicycle on roads also used by cars, be fully cautious of moving vehicles and follow traffic rules.
Goenzan Noroshi-dai View point's panoramic view
The Goenzan Noroshi-dai View point offers one of the best panoramic views in the Daisen area. Here, you can look over the green ski slopes with the impressive north face of Mt. Daisen rising in the backdrop, and further down, you can even see the Sea of Japan. The downhill cycling course starts here and runs to the ocean below.
Refreshing air at Kawadoko filled with negative ions
At Kawadoko, you can see the mineral-rich, natural spring waters flowing forth from Daisen's virgin beech forest. The cool mist that rises from the pristine waters is refreshing and filled with beneficial negative ions.
Cycle from the beech forest to the Sea of Japan.
Enjoy cycling downhill along low traffic roads with a fantastic view of the Sea of Japan. The course is encompassed by lush green pastures where you will have many chances to communicate with local farmers, and at the goal, the white beaches of the Kiryo Coast await your arrival.
