Next, I would like to mention Japan’s technologies for energy conservation. With energy-saving technologies in refrigerators and air conditioners having progressed dramatically these last ten years, and liquid crystals drawing much attention as a form of low-energy, climate change-mitigating technology, the technology incorporated into Japanese products ranks among the best in the world.
Today, through the cooperation of various private-sector companies, we are able to have compact fluorescent light bulbs and energy-saving types of air conditioners on display just outside this meeting room. The air conditioner was designed such that it conserves energy based on the user’s degree of energy-saving awareness. I would like to invite you to take a look at the display outside when you have a moment.
Also, the speakers that will be used at the reception tonight are particularly thin and light ones which have been designed through noise control technology. These speakers are also 90% recyclable and I do hope that you take advantage of the opportunity to observe them at the reception tonight.
