Regulatory Measures against Air Pollutants Emitted from Factories and Business Sites and the Outline of Regulation - Facilities at specified coarse particulates are generated

Facilities at specified coarse particulates are generated

  • Currently [asbestos] is designated as a specified coarse particulate
  • The following are facilities at which specified coarse particulates are generated
    FacilitiesCapacity
Cotton-combing machinery, mixer machinery, textile weaving machinery Rated output of engine is more than 3.7 KW
Cutters, polishers, shavers, crushers and milling machinery, presses (for shearing processes), boring machinery Rated output of engine is more than 2.2 KW

*At facilities in which products containing asbestos are manufactured,
those employing the wet process and the closed process are excluded.

  • The regulation standards pertaining to specified coarse particulates are stipulated as the permissible limits of atmospheric concentration at the site perimeters of those factories and offices. (10 containers/liter)
  • The establishment or remodeling of facilities at which specified coarse particulates are generated requires the filing of certain items with the prefectural/municipal governments.
  • If it is determined, as a result of that filing, that atmospheric concentration of specified coarse particulates at the site perimeters of those factories and offices is not in conformity with the regulation standards, then the prefectural/municipal governors can order alterations to the plan, etc.
  • Facilities at which specified coarse particulates are emitted shall calibrate the specified atmospheric concentration of such particulates and record the results.
