Guidelines for Use of the ETV Project Logo

1. Introduction

@To spread the ETV Project among the general public, Ministry of the Environment defined the logo shown below as the “ETV Project Logo.”

2. Scope and Limits of Use

@The Logo may be used for the following purposes. It may not be used for other purposes.

(1)
The Logo may be used to introduce this project to the general public through newspapers, magazines, academic papers, websites, etc. Approval of Ministry of the Environment is not required for this type of use.
(2)
It may be used for introduction, advertisement, etc., of target technologies whose verification test result reports have been approved by Ministry of the Environment, Verification Management Organizations, and Verification Organizations. (Neither notification to nor approval of organizations related to the ETV Project is specifically required.) However, display methods described in “3. Display Methods” must be observed. The Logo must not be used in any way whatsoever that implies a guarantee, certification, or approval by Ministry of the Environment and other organizations related to the ETV Project.
(3)
It must be used by an organization that has been selected as a Verification Management Organization or a Verification Organization in order to indicate the fact of being selected as such. (Neither notification to nor approval of organizations related to the ETV Project is specifically required.) It must not be used for this purpose after the period of being a Verification Management Organization or a Verification Organization.

3. Display Methods

General Points to be Observed

[1]
The Logo must not be used in any way whatsoever that implies a guarantee, certification, or approval by Ministry of the Environment, Verification Management Organizations, Verification Organizations, or other organization related to the ETV Project.
[2]
The Logo must not be used as a part of the name of any product, service, technology, etc. Note: When the Logo is used to introduce or advertise the technology to which a verification number was issued, the following points must also be observed.
[3]
Indicate, adjacent to the Logo, the verification number specific to the target verification technology issued by Ministry of the Environment.
[4]
The Logo must be located adjacent to the name, etc., of the verified target technology, so as to facilitate clear identification of the verified target technology. For products for which the verified target technology is applied to only one model in a product series, that fact must be indicated clearly. Moreover, where only one model of a product series has received verification, in principle, the Logo must not be used for other products in the series, unless the technology and performance of them are identical to those verified. Any doubts that arise with regard to whether or not the technologies or performance of products are identical should be consulted with Ministry of the Environment.
[5]
If the Logo is used for introduction of the technology or other use, it must not be used independently, and the following statement must always be displayed adjacent to the Logo: “The name and the Logo of the ETV Project do not imply any guarantee, certification, or approval by MOE or related organizations with regard to the technology or its performance.” The statement should be displayed in a size large enough to be read without difficulty.

Display Methods of the Logo

[1]
The color scheme of the Logo must be as indicated on another sheet, and no other color schemes may be used.
[2]
The Logo must be displayed in a way that makes it easily distinguishable as an independent mark.
[3]
The Logo must not be cut, divided into parts, or modified in any way. However, the size of the Logo as a whole may be varied.
[4]
Where the Logo is used on a website, a link must be provided from it to the website of the ETV Project (http://www.env.go.jp/policy/etv/).
size 160px × 50px
size 130px × 40px
size 88px × 31px

4. Transitional Measures

@The ETV Project Logo may be used for technologies that were verified in the Environmental Technology Verification Pilot Project. In such a case, the verification number issued in the project may be used as it is.
