Makugawa Onsen Yoshikuraya

Makugawa Onsen Yoshikuraya

One of two inns at Makugawa Onsen, one of the secluded hot springs scattered throughout the Tsuchiyu pass. The inn has an indoor bath made of Japanese cypress and fed by a simple spring, the water of which can be drunk, and a sulfur-spring open-air bath. Here you can enjoy the different water qualities provided by two sources. You can also partake in “forest bathing” in a natural Japanese beech woodland in the open-air bath notable for its mineral deposits. On some days, there are so many the water turns cloudy. Immersed in the sounds of leaves as the trees sway in the wind and the clean air of elevation 1300 m, this is an inn where you can appreciate the gifts of the land to your heart’s content.

MESSAGE

We derive joy above all when our guests appreciate the simplicity of our inn nestled deep in the mountains. With the high elevation of 1,300 meters, we boast a climate that is 10 degrees cooler than the lowlands. Also, the virgin beech forest covering the area provides a beautiful lush scenery in the summer and vivid foliage in the autumn. These seasons are perfect for trekking.
