Study on the status of the Implementation of the Basel Convention in Asia

As part of the Network activity, Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ) has conducted a series of studies on the present status of transboundary movements and challenges faced by countries in Asia for the implementation of the Basel Convention and developed reports based on information available from national reporting or provided by participating countries. Some reports were submitted as information documents to the expert group established under the Basel Convention for the purpose of sharing experience of Asia with others.

Study on Trend of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes in Asia

Trend of transboundary movements of hazardous wastes and other wastes and used electrical and electronic equipment (UEEE) was analyzed based on the data available from national reporting of the Basel Convention as well as trade statistics of each country.

Study on Criteria and Requirement on Environmentally Sound Management of Hazardous Wastes and Other Wastes in Asia

The Asian Network Secretariat conducted a study to identify recommendable ESM components in view of the current status of a legal system, technologies and other relevant matters in Asia and also to consider the measures which can ensure both prevention of illegal transboundary movements and the appropriate resource circulation.

Study on Import Control on Used Electrical and Electronic Equipment in Asia

Through cooperation with participating countries, the Secretariat developed a summary table of regulation on import of E-waste and used electrical and electronic equipment (UEEE) as the first step to enhance understanding of national policy of each country.

Study on Good Practice for the Implementation of the Basel Convention in Asia

With a view to promote good practices or successful case in Asia, a web-based handbook was developed. It compiles information of good practices for the effective implementation of the Basel Convention conducted by some participating countries.
