Good Practices for Effective Enforcement of the Basel Convention
The Asian Network has shared and exchanged good practices for effective enforcement of the Basel Convention, including;
- Close cooperation with Customs (e.g., joint inspection, etc.)
- Regular inter-ministry meetings
- Awareness raising (e.g., seminar, workshop, IEC material, etc)
- Communication with Competent Authorities and Focal Points in other countries or relevant international organization
- User friendly import/export procedure
The questionnaire survey on the good practices was conducted at the Network workshop held on 20-22 January 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The following is the summary of response.
Additionally, some good practices in the above summary were selected and summarized as a web-based handbook for good practices of implementation of the Basel Convention (e-handbook).
Acceleration of the Basel Notification Process
