Asia E-waste Project

The Basel Convention Partnership on the Environmentally Sound Management of E-waste for Asia-Pacific Region

The Government of Japan in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Basel Convention (SBC) launched the Basel Convention Partnership on the Environmentally Sound Management of E-waste for Asia-Pacific Region at the Asia-Pacific Regional Inception Workshop on the Environmentally Sound Management of E-waste in Tokyo in November 2011. This programme focuses on enhancement of the capacity of Parties to manage E-waste in an environmentally sound way. The followings are the strategic objectives:

  • Assessment of the current situation on E-waste;
  • Prevention and minimization of E-waste;
  • Introduction of the environmentally sound management of E-waste;
  • Promotion of information and training for all sectors.

The following projects have been undertaken by the participating countries and organizations technically and financially supported by the Government of Japan.
