The Tenth Inter-Governmental Meeting of Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research

The tenth Inter-Governmental Meeting of Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) was jointly held with the ninth Scientific Planning Group meeting from April 12 to 14, 2005 in Kobe, Japan. The meeting was attended by representatives from twenty APN member countries and international organizations including the Global Change System for Analysis, Research, and Training (START), the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP), the International Human Dimensions Program on Global Environmental Change (IHDP).

In the meeting, the APN's Second Strategic Plan was adopted based on the assessment report on APN activities and the future course of the APN to enhance its activities was discussed. The discussions were reviewed into the Chair's Summary. The Ministry of the Environment organized a scientific symposium on the "Contribution of the APN for Evaluation of Vulnerability and Adaptation Measures in the Asia-Pacific Region focusing on Coastal Zones" on April 13.

Commeomorating tenth anniversary of the APN, "Public Forum on Global Environmental Education and Global Change Research: the APN's Expected Roles" was jointly hosted by the APN Secretariat and Hyogo Prefectural Government on April 11, 2005.
