Invest Japan Offices

What are Invest Japan Offices?

On March 27, 2003, the Japan Investment Council (JIC) approved a report by the JIC Expert Committee stating as follows: The government should “translate into English various types of information on investment procedures, such as those related to the establishment of corporations, M&As, and the establishment of plants and store outlets, and set up a single contact point in the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) for access to such information. To complement its services, each ministry or institution related to investment should set up its own contact point that can indicate the division in charge of a particular procedure, and create a website where investors can obtain necessary information.”

On that basis, the “Basic Concepts concerning the Establishment and Management of Invest Japan Offices” (decided upon by the Chair of the JIC on May 23, 2003) stated that the relevant ministries and institutions would, from fiscal 2003, establish Invest Japan Offices in order to contribute to the development of the Japanese economy as a result of striving to encourage investment by clarifying, simplifying and expediting their procedures concerning foreign direct investment in Japan, along with streamlining the provision of information on investment. Preparations concerning the offices’ establishment and management subsequently moved ahead, centering on the Cabinet Office.

In accordance with this, the Ministry of the Environment also established an Invest Japan Office to field inquiries on direct investment in Japan.

We provide services as follows
