The relationship between the environment and the economy should constitute a virtuous circle for environment and economy in which benefiting the environment leads to economic development, and stimulating the economy improves the environment.
To realistically pursue such a mechanism, Yuriko Koike, Minister for the Environment from Sept. 2003 to Sept. 2006, called on women in environment-related business management and other related fields to contribute their opinions as part of an ad-hoc consultation, the “Environmental Businesswomen’s Meetings on a Virtuous Circle for Environment and Economy in Japan.”
