- Rules of the Yakushima World Heritage Area Liaison Committee (Excerpts)
(Aim)
| Article 2: | This committee seeks to promote
appropriate conservation and management of Yakushima inscribed in the World
Heritage List. To this end, we strive to facilitate mutual communication and
coordination among the organizations concerned. |
(Composition of the Committee)
| Article 3: | The Committee shall be composed of the following organizations:
Kyushu District National Parks and Wildlife Office
Kumamoto Regional Forestry Office
Kagoshima Prefecture
Kagoshima Prefecture Board of Education

In addition, the Committee may decide to ask representatives of the local
governments of Kamiyaku-cho and Yaku-cho to attend Committee meetings to express
their opinions.
(Matters of the Committee)
| Article 4: | To achieve the aim set out in Article 2,this committee shall discuss and coordinate the following
matters. |
- Matters necessary to facilitate cooperation among the organizations concerned with regard to the implementation of conservation and management measures.
- Matters concerning the Management Plan
- Other matters that are deemed necessary by the Committee to facilitate the
effective implementation of conservation and management measures.
(Secretaries)
- Article 5: Secretaries shall be selected for the Committee.
- The following persons shall be eligible for the position of secretary:Chief,
National Parks Management Section, Kyushu District National Parks and Wildlife
OfficeDirector, Planning Division, Forest Management Department, Kumamoto
Regional Forest OfficeDirector, Environmental Policy Division, Health and
Environment Department, Kagoshima PrefectureDirector, Forestry and Fisheries
Division, Forestry and Fisheries Department, Kagoshima PrefectureDirector,
Culture Division, Education Agency, Kagoshima Prefecture
- In order to facilitate the effective operation of the meeting, the
Secretaries shall hold a Secretaries' meeting whenever necessary, and shall
facilitate communication and coordination among the organizations concerned
- When a General Secretary's meeting is held, the additionally written provision of
Article 3 may be applicable.
