Ichinose Visitor Center is located in the largest gateway (830 m above sea level) for mountain climbers hiking up Mt. Hakusan, and also serves as the point of departure for mountain buses heading to the start of trails when the use of private cars is restricted during the summer. The center features a large number of exhibits that showcase the natural beauty of the Ichinose area, and also provides information regarding the surrounding environment and mountain hikes to Mt. Hakusan. It also organizes weekend walks guided by volunteers, which have proven popular.

Chugu Onsen Visitor Center Chugu Museum Hall
Chugu Onsen Visitor Center and Chugu Museum Hall utilize models, photographs and video footage to introduce in an easy-to-understand manner the animals and plants that live in the Chugu area, and the natural environment and topography of Mt. Hakusan. They also feature exhibits that allow visitors to enjoy a virtual experience of the local natural environment comprised of Japanese beech trees, and get in touch with the culture of the people living on Mt. Hakusan.

Mt. Bunao Observation House

Mt. Bunao Observation House is a facility located near the Ishikawa Prefecture entrance of the Hakusan Shirakawa-go White Road, where visitors can observe Japanese Macaque Monkeys, Japanese Serows, Asian Black Bears, golden eagles and other animals in their natural habitat. Visitors can freely make use of the permanently installed large binoculars and telescopes. During the snow season, snowshoe hikes (mini nature observation events) are organized in the weekend, during which participants go for a stroll in the snow-covered forests wearing snowshoes.

Katsurako Visitor Center / Lake Katsurako Auto-campsite

Located near Lake Katsura (a dam lake), Katsurako Visitor Center provides information about animals and plants in the surrounding environment and about the lifestyle of the residents of Gokayama area. Visitors can rent canoes to explore Lake Katsura or enjoy various outdoor activities on the adjoining wide lawn area, auto campground or cottage.

Hakusan-Murodou Lodge (Hakusan-Murodou Visitor Center)

Hakusan-Murodou Visitor Center is located in the Murodou Plateau (2,450 m above sea level), making it the closest facility to the summit (Gozengamine) of Mt. Hakusan. It features a wide range of facilities including lodging buildings, a restaurant, a clinic, a post office, and a shop. In the summer, the facility is permanently staffed by guides from the Ishikawa Prefecture Nature Guide Association, and organizes walks to explore ponds situated on the summit and nature observation events in the Murodou area. Visitors are advised to factor some leeway into their mountain hiking plan, and check in by 16:00.

Located at Mimani-Ryugabanba, the saddle between Gozengamine and Mt. Bessan (2,100 m above sea level). The area hosts a large number of facilities including a visitor center, the lodging facility Nanryu Sanso Lodge, the Minami-Ryugabanba Campsite (the only designated camping site on Mt. Hakusan), and a cabin that can be booked in its entirety. In the summer period, the facility is permanently staffed with guides from the Ishikawa Prefecture Nature Guide Association, and organizes slide screening events.

Hakusan-Shirakawago White Road (Formerly known as the “Hakusan Super Rindo Road”)

Hakusan-Shirakawago White Road
The Hakusan-shirakawago White Road is a 33.3km-long toll road that connects Shirakawa Village in Gifu Prefecture and Hakusan City in Ishikawa Prefecture. It takes roughly one hour to travel the road, during which drivers can enjoy the abundant natural landscape consisting of primeval forests populated by primeval Japanese beech forest, beautiful valleys, and majestic waterfalls, as well as views of Mt. Hakusan. There are walking courses and trails that start from parking lots, and the area is famous for its alpine plants during the summer and colored leaves during the autumn.
