From the rest house situated at an elevation of 725 meters on the side of Mt. Mokoto, you will get an impressive 300-degree panorama of eastern Hokkaido's breathtaking natural scenery, including a glimpse of the Sea of Okhotsk, Shiretoko Mountain Range, Lake Kussharo, Kawayu's Mt. Iwosan, and the Wakoto Peninsula. If you stroll down the walking path nearby, you can also see a sweeping view of Lake Kussharo in its entirety.

Highland Koshimizu 725 additionally serves as the trailhead for climbing Mt. Mokoto and even inexperienced hikers can reach the summit in about one hour. You will not find another outlook like the one from atop Mt. Mokoto―it is a truly a sight you do not want to miss!

Surrounded by pristine nature and an air of tranquility, the songs of wild birds constantly resound through Highland Koshimizu 725. If luck will have it, you can catch a glance of a foraging chipmunk, or on an early morning with good weather, you can see a mystic sea of clouds floating over the lake.
