These waters extend from the vicinity of Mega in the town of Yuza, Yamagata Prefecture through Araigama to the vicinity of Kamomejima Island in the city of Nikaho, Akita Prefecture. Here is an expansive ecosystem centered on seaweed beds. These waters include spawning grounds and breeding grounds of multiple species of birds, fish, and others.
