The vicinity of Cape Sawasaki is habitat for the rare species of Icelinus japonicus and jawfish. In addition, due to its unique terrain it is used as a spawning grounds by various species of coastal fish. For example, it is one of the few breeding areas for Alcichthys elongatus and Aptocyclus ventricosus (Awata, personal communication).
