These are the waters in the vicinity of Tokunoshima Island. Tokunoshima Island is home to scattered loggerhead turtle and green turtle spawning grounds. In addition, its shallow waters are feeding waters for the green turtle (Kamezaki, 2013). The coral reefs that have developed at Kaminomine and the Port of Kannishi on Tokunoshima are home to highly diverse species (Ministry of the Environment, 2001).
