These are the waters in the vicinity of the mouth of the Kamo River, Kanagawa River and other river. Distribution of Urechis unicinctus, Acmaeopleura sp., Mediterranean mussehas been confirmed (Itani et. al., 2005), and breeding grounds of Japanese horseshoe crab used to be reported. A rare parasitic bivalve called Peregrinamor ohshimai also colledted here (Itani, 2004b). In Kawaraitsu tidal flat, Gymnogobius cylindricus (endangered species) and Silhouettea dotui which are only in a limited area of the Seto Inland Sea and the Ariake Sea, are distributed. The mouth of the Kamo River is visited by snipe and plover, with relatively large numbers of species and populations during the spring and fall migration periods. Little curlew, Himantopus himantopus, redshank, Numenius madagascariensis, Gallinago hardwickii are recored, and Larus saundersi use this site as nesting site (Birdlife International, 2012).
