These are the waters in the vicinity of the mouth of the Suzuka River. The area of the river mouth is a transit point for migrating snipe and plover. Relatively numerous species and populations of birds visit here during the migration seasons of spring and fall, and here at least 1% of the minimum estimated population of sanderling and at least 0.25% of the minimum estimated population of Kentish plover have been recorded (Ministry of the Environment, 2001).
